Installation Guide
Step 1

Turn off your computer. Remove the Voiceral (Grandstream) Adapter from the box, but don't plug it in yet. The back of the Adapter looks like this:

Step 2

TYPICAL SETUP: Locate the cable that runs from your computer to your Cable or DSL modem. Unplug it from your cable or DSL modem and plug it into the port labeled "LAN" on the back of the Voiceral Adapter.

Step 3

TYPICAL SETUP: Use the cable supplied, and plug one end of this cable into the port labeled "WAN" on the Voiceral Adapter, and plug the other end into the port on your Cable or DSL modem.

ROUTER SETUP: If using a router, plug one end of the supplied cable into the WAN port on the Voiceral Adapter, and the other end into one of the available ports on your router.

Step 4

Unplug your telephone's cord from the wall jack, and plug it into the port labeled "PHONE" on the Voiceral Adapter.

Step 5

Locate the power cord that came with the Voiceral Adapter. Plug one side of it into the "DC 5V" port, and the other side into any standard 110V electrical outlet. You can now begin making calls!

IMPORTANT: DO NOT WAIT FOR YOUR PHONE NUMBER TO TRANSFER BEFORE HOOKING UP THE VOICERAL SERVICE!
It is very important to install and use your Voiceral service prior to the day your phone number transfers. The reason why you need to do this is because, if you need assistance getting your adapter installed, you do NOT want to wait until the day your number transfers because if you do, and your Voiceral adapter is not installed, you will be without phone service until you install your Voiceral adapter.

WHY IS THE RED LIGHT FLASHING AFTER INSTALLATION?
Upon installation or repowering of the adapter, the red light on top of the adapter will flash red for approximately 40 seconds until it stops. When the red light stops flashing, it indicates that phone service has been restored.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN THE RED LIGHT WON’T STOP FLASHING?
(if you don’t have a router or hub port)

When the red light on top of the adapter continues to flash beyond 40 seconds, it indicates that it does not have connectivity to the cable or DSL modem. To easily correct this, be sure you have an ethernet cable running from the WAN port on the Voiceral adapter to to your cable or DSL modem. Then unplug the cable modem from its power supply and unplug the adapter from its power supply. Wait about 10 seconds and plug the cable modem back into its power supply, wait about 5 more seconds and plug the adapter into its power supply and allow the adapter to cycle (about 40 seconds) and the red light will stop flashing. You now have phone service.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN THE RED LIGHT WON’T STOP FLASHING?
(if you do have a router or hub port)

When the red light on top of the adapter continues to flash beyond 40 seconds, it indicates that it does not have connectivity to the Router. To easily correct this, be sure you have an ethernet cable running from the WAN port on the Voiceral adapter to one of the ports on your router (be sure that this ethernet cable is not plugged into the main WAN/Internet port on your router because the main WAN/Internet port on your router needs to be plugged into your cable or DSL modem) then simply unplug the Voiceral Adapter from its power supply, unplug the cable or DSL modem from its power supply and unplug the router from its power supply. After all three devices have been unplugged from their power supplies, plug your cable or DSL modem in first – then wait approximately 10 seconds and then plug your router back into its power supply – wait approximately 10 seconds and then plug the Voiceral adapter into its power supply. Each router handles IP addresses differently and therefore, it may take up to 5 minutes for the red light on top of the Voiceral adapter to stop flashing. You now have phone service.

WHY DON’T I HAVE INTERNET ACCESS AFTER INSTALLING THE ADAPTER?
This generally means that your computer has lost connectivity with the adapter. To regain connectivity to the internet, reboot your computer.

WHY IS THE GREEN LIGHT FLASHING?
When the green light on top of the adapter is flashing, this means you have a message waiting for you in your Voiceral voicemail. If your Voiceral adapter is located somewhere that makes it inconvenient to see the green light flashing, indicating that you have voicemail waiting, that is not a problem. Your phone will also issue a stutter dialtone when you have voicemail waiting. When you pick up the receiver of your phone, if you hear a stutter dialtone, instead of a normal dialtone, that means you have voicemail waiting for you.

WHY MUST I WAIT FOR MY NUMBER TO PORT BEFORE I CAN HOOK ALL MY PHONES TO THE VOICERAL SERVICE?
Your Voiceral service is activated upon your initial signup and you may begin to immediately make all outgoing calls through your Voiceral adapter. You do this by connecting your Voiceral adapter to your Cable or DSL modem (as outlined on the other side of this guide) and you will plug one phone into the back of the Voiceral adapter. Your current phone company owns your phone number and the only way they can complete a call to you is over their current phone wiring. Once your number transfers to Voiceral, then all your inbound calls will begin to ring-in over the Voiceral service. Until your number transfers, all inbound calls will still be delivered through your current phone company and when your number transfers, all your inbound calls will be delivered through your Voiceral service.

HOW DO I CONNECT ALL MY HOME PHONES TO THE VOICERAL SERVICE?
Please refer to www.voiceral.com and click on “FAQ” from the top menu bar. Scroll to the bottom of the FAQ section and you will see the guide on how to hook-up all your phones to the Voiceral service. Do not hook-up all your house phones to the Voiceral service until your phone number has completely transferred to Voiceral.

CAN I USE A SURGE SUPPRESSOR?
Only with the power cord. Do not plug the phone cord or ethernet cable from your Voiceral adapter into a surge suppressor. If you plug the phone cord from the Voiceral adapter into a surge suppressor, you will reduce the quality of your phone service. FAST-START INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: “Phone” from the adapter goes to a phone. “Power” from the adapter goes to power. “LAN” from adapter goes to the computer. “WAN” goes to the cable modem or DSL modem. If you have a router: “Phone” from the adapter goes to a phone. “Power” from the adapter goes to power. “WAN” goes to an open port on your router. No connection to LAN port.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS: Do not use any kind of couplers or splitters within the path of the phone line plugged into the Voiceral adapter. These can introduce irregularities in the line that can disrupt service. Use of high-bandwidth file-sharing programs such as Limewire are also not recommended, as these can occupy a very large portion of your available bandwidth and jeopardize call quality.
